Board of Directors

The Foundation’s Board of Directors is drawn from parents in the school community as well as alumni and other community supporters. Our current board consists of:

Anthony More, President

Anthony is Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Vir2us, Inc., an Internet security firm based in Petaluma. Prior to Vir2us, he was an information technology manager for an academic institution, and managed a team of IT professionals that pioneered one of the first laptop computer programs for elementary grade levels and deployed the first wireless network in a California school. Having attended Waldorf schools through high school, Anthony thereafter graduated from Colby College. He has one child currently attending Sebastopol Charter, and one that graduated in 2018.

Bob Haroche, Vice President

Bob is a shareholder in Beyers Costin Simon, where he practices real estate, land use, administrative and general commercial law. His work involves representing individuals, businesses and non-profits in both commercial transactions and litigation at the trial and appellate levels. Prior to joining the Charter Foundation in 2008, Bob served as President of the Sonoma County Animal Shelter Volunteers organization. In years past, he also owned and managed OnPoint Solutions, a web development and design company. Originally from New York, Bob attended the Wharton School of Business and New York University School of Law. He has lived in Sonoma County since 1992, and has two sons, one of whom graduated from Sebastopol Charter in 2015 and the other in 2017.

Amy Hui Johnson, Treasurer

Amy is an accountant specializing in corporate tax for over 10 years; she has also worked with small business tax during her career. Amy was born in Hong Kong and grew up in Texas. Since 2000, she has been involved with an employee organization which promotes ethnic diversity and networking in her field; she has held several officer positions within this organization and currently serves as National Treasurer. Amy received her undergraduate degree in accounting from Texas State University.

Amy, her husband Blake, and their two daughters moved to Sebastopol from Boulder, Colorado in 2014.  Their daughters are currently in the lower grades and have been in Waldorf education since pre-school.

Laura Gilbert, Secretary

Laura Gilbert has over 15 years of experience working for nonprofits both nationally and throughout Sonoma County, with responsibilities including fund development, events, grant writing, marketing, volunteer management and administration. She is currently working independently as a nonprofit consultant, and manages the family’s growing construction company. Laura graduated from University of California, Davis with a Bachelor’s degree in English, and has a graduate certificate in Nonprofit Administration from Sonoma State University. Laura has a close connection with nature and simplicity, and is most happy either hiking in the mountains or scuba diving in a deep blue (and warm!) sea. Laura has lived in Sebastopol for just over 11 years, and she and her husband Brian try to spend much of their days with their two girls camping and backpacking throughout California.

Laura co-chaired the Charter Foundation’s Community Auction in 2017 & 2018, the School’s two highest grossing years.

Ashley Schroth-Cary, Board Member at Large

Ashley Schroth-Cary is a whole foods nutritionist who studied at Bauman College. Her background is in emergency medicine where she worked as an EMT/firefighter and a ski patroller. She found her true calling as a nutritionist and has never looked back. She has spent the last six years helping build a lifestyle program in Santa Rosa. She is passionate about helping people eat healthier, train better and stress less. When she isn’t working, she enjoys being with her 2 young daughters, husband and dog, usually doing something outdoors. She has a passion for healthy cooking and loves to help others ignite their passion as well.

Camelia Patiño, Board Member at Large

Camelia Patiño is a real estate agent with Terra Firma Global Partners. She comes to the board with a diverse background in real estate, conflict resolution and event production. Throughout her career, she has used her energy, creativity and excitement to find solutions and build relationships with clients and her community, and hopes to use these skills to help build and strengthen the relationships within our school. Camelia is passionate about traveling, volunteering and growing her community. She is an active member in Impact 100 Redwood Circle and the Sebastopol Chamber of Commerce.

Robert Bialkin, Board Member at Large

Robert Bialkin’s early education was in the Waldorf community at Summerfield and then Willowood before eventually attending Brook Haven Middle School and Analy High in Sebastopol. Robert stayed local, attending Santa Rosa Junior College for an associate degree and elected to forego a bachelor’s degree in favor of his Juris-Doctorate by testing directly into Empire Law School. During law school, he worked for the Sonoma County Council on Aging as a paralegal while also opening his first business, Honeymoon Frozen Yogurt in Sebastopol, which he eventually sold. He became an attorney in 2009 and developed a thriving law practice in Santa Rosa. Robert later discovered a passion for real estate so in 2015 he also became a real estate broker, which is now his primary occupation. Robert recently moved his family back to Sebastopol so his young children could attend Sebastopol Charter.
